Thanksgiving and Finals

My Thanksgiving break was very relaxing and consisted of a lot of nothing. I managed to get about 14 hours of sleep everyday and got rid of my cold I’ve had for a month at school… and now it’s back again. I was with my friends every night and after not seeing them for about 3 months, it’s safe to say that things got carried away. I look forward to Thanksgiving dinner all year (like most people) and I definitely took full advantage of the food situation. Clearly, I had a very chill Thanksgiving break and that is exactly what I had hoped for.

It’s a nice feeling knowing that we online have 2 weeks left of classes and hopefully they will fly by. Although I’m only taking 2 finals I am still stressed out about them. Of course my two hardest classes are my 2 finals I have to take. I started studying for one of them already and am trying to start the other this week to get a head start on things. MAT120 and PHY102 may or may not kick my ass. I plan on just getting all of my hard work done ahead of time so I’m not cramming and feeling stressed out when finals comes along.

Accounting

• Acadamic interest? Acocunting- Masters/CPA
• What do I find appealing? I really enjoy math and numbers and that is exactly was being a CPA is.
• How did I learn about it? My best friend’s parents are both accountants and my other friend’s parents work for the FBI so they mentioned being a forensic accountant.
• Past academic experiences? Accounting class in high school, many math courses, business, econ, finance
• Past professional experience? I don’t have any personal professional experience with accounting.
• Academic goals? Maintain a high GPA and graduate in the 5-year program and obtain my masters and become a CPA.
• Professional goals? Work for the FBI and become a forensic accountant and investigate cases in which people have embezzled money.
• What do I not know? I’m not sure how to obtain the title of forensic accountant and I don’t know what to minor in.
• Professional writing genres? Resume

Re-created Meme!!!!

The “Unimpressed Astronaut” is the original title of the meme I choose to change. The specific audience of my meme would be people who own moon shoes that bounce around and pretend to be on the moon when clearly that’s not that cool. The audience might think my meme is funny if they ever owned moon shoes or do the moon walk. Sarcastic people is a target of my meme as well. I choose this meme because I’m a very sarcastic person and like to joke around with things, so I created a sarcastic meme with the astronaut. I kept the picture in the same format, but changed the words to make them say something different, but still making it sarcastic.

MEME

The Unimpressed Astronaut is a good meme that basically makes fun of people who like to brag about where they have been or what they’ve done. It is a picture of John Young walking on the moon in 1972 during his Apollo 16 mission.

This started because Brian Regan, a comedian, stated how he wanted to walk on the moon, so that every time someone said anything they’ve accomplished he could respond with, “Oh. That’s nice. I’ve walked on the moon”. This explains why the meme is called “Unimpressed Astronaut”.

People who tend to like this is probably sarcastic people or people who don’t like to hear others brag about things. Also, some like one-uping people and this is a great example of a statement you can’t beat.

5K FLYER

I have chosen to do a flyer for a 5K run/walk for my sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha. Our philanthropy is to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research and cures. I’m working with a flyer because I feel like that would be the easiest way to get information spread throughout campus/Bloomington-Normal.

I’ve never created a flyer before so I will need to figure out which program to use to produce a nice flyer.

I already know what the subject is about, because I had a chapter meeting for Zeta and learned about our philanthropy we chose to do… Which is obviously the 5K run/ walk. I also know that our color scheme is turquoise and gray. (K)

“Having 5 classes in one day wasn’t the smartest decision ever………”

Well I wrote this status because I quickly realized having 5 classes in one day was a bad, bad decision. 12 people liked my status and no one commented on it. Half of the people who liked it were probably thinking, “Oh… sucks for you”. And others might have been agreeing. I wouldn’t change this status because I meant every word. The in-class exercises made me realize that you should write to an audience of similar interest since a lot of my FB friends are in school. All of the people that liked it were in college, so it makes sense!

Genre Experience

Some of the genres I found were a What Happens In Vegas DVD, the Illinois state flag, Vizio TV, Spongebob EasyMac, From Atoms to Galaxies physics book, and a box of goldfish. I found all of my genres in my dorm room and typed them in to my Mac. I would want to work with the Spongebob EasyMac, because I like food and that seems different and interesting. Also, I would like to work with my What Happens in Vegas DVD because that’s my favorite movie!

Hello! I’m Alex Clay from Chatham, IL, about 4 minutes away from Springfield, IL. I’m majoring in Accounting at ISU because it has a really good business/accounting program. I’m planning on earning my CPA and masters in Accounting in 5 years. I love to workout and eat… Even though that totally contradicts itself. Italian and Mexican food are definitely my weakness. Whatever. Netflix is constantly playing on my computer and/or phone… I’m obsessed. My first week at Illinois State was kind of scary. Well when I moved in it was pouring and all of my possessions got soaked, so it was a great start. Things got better though when I went out that night and met a bunch of people… Got a little crazy, ooops. Classes went well though and I made it to every single one! I plan on rushing in 2 weeks, but I don’t know which sorority I want to get in to. I look forward to having more wild times in the next 5 years!!  🙂
